It’s an exciting time for the translation industry."Īs part of the agreement, Champollion of Wordfast will work with to enhance its existing suite of TM tools. Our vision is to develop software that works together in such a way that enterprise customers can employ next generation workflow solutions, while end-users can choose the platform they are most comfortable working in. A fresh approach, boosted by the market’s desire for choice, will help shape a new computing environment," said Yves Champollion, Chairman and CEO of Wordfast. "This partnership will help unleash the potential of next-generation TM solutions to users around the world. With a combined customer-base of over 30,000 licensed end-users and over 100 enterprise-level corporate clients, the alliance is expected to bring a roadmap of unprecedented clarity to the future of software development in the translation industry. By providing the three development teams a new level of openness, and enabling them to work more collaboratively,, Alchemy, and Wordfast expect to accelerate the pace at which new, compelling, and compatible translation software solutions are made available to consumers. In the near future, corporate customers, agencies, and end-users can expect a far better user experience than the translation-related software tools market currently offers. This alliance will achieve the common goal of fostering innovation and choice in translation memory and translation workflow solutions. Under the new agreement, the two companies, which began developing compatible tools 24 months ago, will begin a new era of cooperation that will include joint marketing programs, a tighter integration of products, and collaboration with Alchemy Software Development. NEW YORK, DUBLIN, and PARIS, Septem– Wordfast LLC, the second largest provider of translation memory software, and, a world leader in enterprise-wide translation workflow solutions, today announced an expansion of their existing alliance. You can use it for free for as long as you want, the only limitation is the size of the translation memory (500 TUs).New Agreement Will Focus Development Teams from, Alchemy Software Development, and Wordfast on Next-Generation Enterprise Translation Technology Missing a target-only proofreading mode that can be updated directlyĭespite the drawbacks, it's definitely worth trying out. The glossaries are stored in the system files, making it more complicated to export/import/manage Frequent upgrades and new features added based on user needs Can integrate with cloud and/or remote TMs for free (no need for a freelance translator to buy a costly server license) Great pricing if you live in a non-OECD country (50% off) Good pricing that allows you free updates for three years, and a cheap renewal fee Highly responsive tech support (they will create a filter for you if you need to translate an obscure file format like Mindjet) Can handle virtually any type of file format It works natively on Mac (one of the main reasons I use it) I’ve been using Wordfast Pro since its inception and it keeps getting better with each new release. Review by John Di Rico 08:10 May 9, 2013. On TGB, you only have 40% discount, and will wait for weeks for the buy to close. A 50% discount is offered through their website. NB: for those living in developing economies (Africa, India, etc.), you don't need to buy Wordfast through Proz TGB. You will soon feel the need to buy other CAT tools: Trados which seems to be the most used by agencies, MemoQ which a good number of freelancers enjoy, Deja V, etc. Wordfast still has a long way to go in order to match other CAT tools. The only limitation is the size of the TM. Unlike other cat tools, you can import and export TMs even with the demo version. It is a good entry level tool for those new to the translation industry, especially its demo version. Compared to other CAT tools, there are a lot of improvements to make. It's quite easy to use and has the basic functionalities needed by a young translator. Review by Sone-Ngole Alvin Ngole I started with the demo version of this tool and later on bought the licence.
